Solved Need help uninstalling Mcafee

I can vouch that it's hard to get rid of (It came with the PC). Even after running the uninstall tool, I had sporadic problems for about a month until I found a couple files buried deep in the system that were causing the trouble. I think McFubar should be classified as a virus.

In some cases, McAfee is hard to get rid of ... that's why I said to stop all it's processes, then run the tool. There may be a program that's running to keep it as the default anti-virus.

Download DDS from one of these links:

• Disable any script blocking protection
• Double click the dds icon to run the tool.
• When done, DDS will open two (2) logs:
  1. DDS.txt
  2. Attach.txt <--- will be minimized in the task tray
• Save both reports to your desktop.

Include the contents of both logs in your next post.
The scan will instruct you to post Attach.txt as an attachment.

I wanted to wait for feedback from you about the attached files before I ran the cleanup tool.

Ran the MCPR tool, rebooted, re-ran DDS, and here is the new DDS .txt file

The Mcafee processes are no longer listed in Task Manager, and are removed from Control Panel / Services.

Looks good! Go to C:\Program Files\Common Files\McAfee <-- delete this folder if there.

Hello guys,
I really need your help with the same problem as DavidE. It's impossible to remove McAfee Endpoint Security Firewall, which is blocking the upgrade to Windows 10. I have tried everything, inlc. MVSUninst. I have read this thread from 2013 and have the two dds logs - dds and attach. Could you help me uninstall the program? I also have downloaded the MCPR, but when I run it it says that it detects Enterprise software and the uninstallation is unsuccessful.

You can do a Clean Install of Win 10 without upgrading first.
A clean install won't transfer any of your current programs, settings, etc. to Win 10.
You would have to re-install all your programs, etc.

You can also wait for other experts to help with removing Mcafee if you want to do an Upgrade install of Win 10.

Create a System Image backup before doing the Upgrade/Install of Win 10.
I use Macrium Reflect free for backup images.

@DavidE's suggestion is certainly one way to go about it....

If you prefer NOT to clean upgrade to Win10, you are correct, the MCPR tool is the CONSUMER product removal tool and will not work for Enterprise products.

This begs the question: is the computer in question a work/business/government/enterprise system?

If so, then it would probably be a good idea to consult with your in-house IT folks about removing the McAfee products or making other changes to the system. Some businesses/enterprises control software removal/installation by end-users.

If not, then you might want to head over to the McAfee/Intel Business forum for assistance with removing the enterprise software. Perhaps there are tools similar to the MCPR tool for the enterprise/business product line. (They have recently overhauled all of their communities, making simple searches for simple things impossible to find. So you may have to join the forum to get specific answers.)
