OS: Windows 7 Ultimate, 64 bit
Browser: IE 8, 64 bit

Annoyance #1: Cannot set different views in folders. I want to view almost all my folders in "details" view, but my photos in "large icon" view. When I set one folder to a view, they all go to that view. (This cold be done in Win XP)

Annoyance #2: When I am saving multiple favorites to a single favorites folder, I have to re-navigate to the folder each time I save a URL. In the olden days, the browser would go back to the same folder until I changed it.

It would be the folder type that makes that happen. You can change that by right clicking a folder and going to the customize tab.

As Logicearth said, you might need to look into folder types. When you change the folder view, you need (as it was the case in XP) click on "apply to all folders" in Folder Options. However, in Windows 7 this will only apply to all folders of the same type. Thus you need to make one more step. Set all those folders you want to see in Details to be of the same type (to choose the type right-click on the folder -> properties -> customize) and then your photo folders to some other type. Moreover, Windows remembers individual folder views as well.

I am not of big help here since I don't use Favorites. But at least in Firefox the bookmark feature works exactly as you want.
