Need Help with backing up Files

Ok so in a few days im getting windows 7 but i dont know how to Backup my files because i want to do a clean install. Is there any way to do this?

which do you want to do? clean install, or upgrade? clean install means re-installing your apps, upgrade doesnt.

Just clean install Windows to where it currently is now. It will put everything currently there in Windows.old folder at root. Once you get to desktop, you can go through it for anything you'd like to keep. After, you can use disk cleanup to get rid of Windows.old

You should try an actual upgrade from within Windows first. If your computer is running smoothly, it will go well and then you won't have to reinstall all your apps.

Yes. It's like a free attempt at having a good system. And a good attempt, at that.

For whatever reason down the road you should decide you want a clean install, it is always an option too.

I have two pcs here that have been upgraded countless times through the beta stage of releases and never an issue to speak of.

What I did was, to be safe, was to put all may files on a flash drive. I then used Windows Easy Transfer (this is really great, get it from Microsoft site) to tranfer everything but programs. Yes, desktop, setting, mail, and contacts. It worked just fine. Just put windows easy transfer in google, to find it. Download and everything will be transferred. Windows.old can aslo be used, but things go wrong.

I concur. Delete all your partitions and then freshly install 7. You can use Macrium Reflect Free in Vista to create a system image and a boot disk to go back to Vista, theoretically:
