I got a new laptop Sony VGN-AW420D about a week ago with no problems at start up until a couple of days ago when there's a blue screen crash. I copied the minidump file to see if anyone can help out in here.

Many thanks in advance for any help.

Windows is running on 64bit if that is useful at all.

Hi and welcome to SF chingwua

Try it first and see how it goes
here is the bugcheck

you said that you just bought your computer a week ago. What software have you installed on your system? Are you using any third party anti-virus software?

Regard,
Tuan

Hi,

I find your situation interesting - the reason is both your BSODs are practically identical.

Code:
[font=lucida console]
 BugCheck 51, {1, fffff8a000024010, e43000, 374}
 Probably caused by : ntkrnlmp.exe ( nt! ?? ::NNGAKEGL::`string'+9b7a )

AND they both occured approximately 1hr 30mins after you started your PC up.

Code:
[font=lucida console]
 System Uptime: 0 days 0:01:27.876
 System Uptime: 0 days 0:01:25.268

Ok, so the probable causes on this one are File system corruption, Malware or Hardware.

So, run chkdsk /r from an elevated (run as admin) command prompt.

Then download and run Malwarebytes: Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware: Malwarebytes

If they both check out ok.. then we will have to look at hardware.

Reventon

there is a Norton Internet security trial version that comes with the laptop. I uninstalled it and did not have any anti virus software installed. All softwares installed are itunes, skype and firefox, with java and a couple of windows updates. everything else is in factory condition.

re reventon: i believe they mean 1 min and 27 seconds because it only happens at start up.

Oops - misread that! :o

In that case - type msconfig in the start menu -> enter -> go to the Boot tab and check the boxes beside Boot Log and Make all boot settings permanent.

Then - immediately after you restart from a BSOD go to C:\bootlog.txt and copy the contents into your next post (remember to use a code box - BBcode: [code][/code])

Also still try the chkdsk and the Malwarebytes scan that I mentioned earlier.

I would not advice you to connect to the internet without anti-virus protection. I recommend the free Microsoft Security Essentials.

Also, I found an older driver in your latest dmp file Windows 7 does not play well with many older drivers.

SFEP.sys Aug 03 2007 - Sony Firmware Extension Parser driver for VAIO. Recommend you update this driver.

I have installed the latest version of the Sony Firmware Extension Parser Device Driver but the problem persist. As for bootlog, I did that in safe mode(because I can't possible get enough time to do it on start up) and restart--->BSOD at start up then return to safe mode, haven't found bootlog.txt but found this bootsqm.dat file don't know if its relevant. i attached it to this post. check disk returns everything normal nothing on bad clusters. God please help - -

It is bootlog.txt that has the info in it. I was sure it was created even in a safe mode boot.

So keep an eye out for it and see if it appears.

Have you got any more BSODs since your last post?
