Need help with cpu coolant for a pc build i am thinking of doing.

I am going to use a Intel i5 3750K ivy bridge or just the 3750 becouse i dont do overcloking.
But a thing that hit me was. the stock cooler. i know intel puts it there becouse it works well without overclocks. And i've heard Cpus last longer when they are running cooler. so if i whant my cpu to last very long i shouldnt use the stock cooler? and do a aftermarket cooler run quieter. I really dont care about the extreme coolant shit. i just whant something that keeps the cpu cooler than the stock.

Is this for example a good non overclock cooler?: Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO

Or is it just shit that cpus last longer with better cooling?
Should i be fine with the stock cooler and is it worth the extra work just to put a aftermarket cooler in.

My system that i whant to have: Quiet long lasting system with a lot of horsepower. going to throw one of thoose gpus in it i think: Gigabyte Radeon HD7950 3072MB Windforce

sisrace, This is a family oriented site and it would be best to not use certain words here. To answer your questions, in my opinion, the stock Intel coolers are completely worthless. The Hyper 212 EVO is probably the best cooler in it's price range you can buy. To me, yes it is worth the effort to replace the stock cooler. Heat is the biggest killer of computer parts there is. That or any cooler runs performs better based on the ambient temp around the cooler. The cooler the temps, the better it works. It seems to me that your location would be good for the cooler. Be sure and read up on applying thermal paste and proper installation. If you need help, please come here and we will help in any way we can. It sounds like you are going to build a nice computer. Just be sure to get a case big enough for the cooler as it is quite tall and make sure your case has very good airflow, which is equally important for good temps. Ram height is a consideration for the large coolers also. That is another thing to keep in mind.

If you whant to see what i am planning to use for the rig you could check out my other thread where i whonder if my budget rig is good or not.. And for the case i will use the zalman z11 plus black. With the glass poking out so its really capible of running big coolers. And the airflow i think is good. I've never build a rig before so i really dont know how the airflow is in cases. But i like zalman and i think theyre making good fans and coolers so i think the case is good. Its kinda cheap too sorry for my launguige. Going to think more about it.

Having said that go the K for the extra few dollars it is wort it I made the mistake with my Sandy Bridge by just having the i5 2500 and not the K.

On my Ivy I have the i5 3570K and an Intel RTS2011LC which is small neat cool looking with the blue LEDs and is good for a bit of an over clock if you should decide down the track to do some.

I have a lot of respect when it comes to electrical stuff. So i dont whant to do overclock becouse i am really scared of destroying anything. And why should i have a K if i wont overclock? Or should i overclock an if what overclock is safe with the cooler and how much performance increase do it give? And last. Do it decrese the cpu lifespan? Cuz i really whant it to last long...

Well mate the i5's are only the reject chips of the entire slice of silicon / batch that were originally i7's the extra performance you don't have to use but I rather like to think that it is more flexible.

Anything that raises the temperature or increases the current density on a chip will reduce its lifetime, but these processors should last a while. The dominate effect is electromigration, which depends strongly on temperature. With electromigration, the conductive paths in the chip are slowly eroded away by the current, until they fail to conduct or short. This happens in non-OC chips as well, but the chip will last as long as it was designed to as long as you keep it in the manufacturers spec. on temperature and voltage.

Great cooling is the s__t in my opinion. Oh and you may say you don't want to over clock but as you learn more about the potential un -locked in the system.....you likely will want to, it's then that extra PSU power, extra cooling capacity of exceptional coolers like Noctua's or sealed water cooling and full water systems can handle comes into play. The Hyper is a very good cooler and for the money it or the Thermaltake Frio are outstanding choices. When you jump to Noctua's or various sealed water rigs then the noise levels lower and capacity increase even further.

Eum. yeah... i do feel that i will overclock. but its only if i need to. that means i dont really have to power and i dont whant to upgrade the cpu. and thats when im going to get a good whatercooling like h100 (Quiet and cool) becouse then i maybe has a bit more money I have only used "cheap computers" so far. my old computer where accually REALLY good.. a week later win 7 came and the computer had a amd radeon 1600 series or what it was. it was pretty bad now i am having a laptop with external monitor and keyboard/mouse. so its like i have a really small desktop comp.

Thats sadly enough just a bit better than the old one. so when i do buy the computer i where thinking of. that performance for me will be outstanding so i dont thing i will care about overclocking for a while

Oh your right, the jump to the home build you've planned will rock your world ! You must take lots of detailed pictures all through the build and also note all model and serial numbers before placing into the build. Most will build the system on top of the mobo box and boot to the bios or even load drivers and Windows to the target drive. Then disassemble and re-install all in the case. As I mentioned if you're not over clocking then just save the dough and bolt down the stock Intel cooler? Then when you decide to push things you can pull the trigger on the latest greatest cooler that fits in you case.

Well I wasn't going to post anymore because this seemed to be going round the houses - on and then off but in any case basically (and as GeneO has pointed out) if you run an electric current through anything from copper cable to semi conducting material - or materials that resist the current flow it is a known fact that this will cause a gradual degradation within the carrying material.
Plus if too much current is passed through the material it will destroy that material/s of those devices / carriers eventually and the higher current the quicker the degradation / destruction of those materials.
A good example of a devices materials degrading is the memory blocks in SSD's by the loss of very small amounts of the components through the constant write / rewrite process.
Why do they put thermo couples in CPU's? - to help prevent that from happening in either a catastrophic or insidious manner.

I have to mention that since we are so close to Intel releasing their new platform, "Haswell", it might be worth your while to wait another couple months and see how they perform. Should be out in May/June.

You will either build a rig off the newest technology and have it last for quite awhile, or you build a rig off of proven technology, for less money, that lasts you quite awhile.

There are still parts you can be searching for the best deals on, such as the case, power supply, drives, etc. I think you can only help yourself by waiting.

Made a misstake with my old comp. A week afteri bought it windows 7 came. And it was 64bit computers out. But no becouse on that time 64bit wasent able to play older games i got a 32 bit. And som time after that it came out really nice cpus compared to what i got. Amd phenom 2 3 core 2,4 ghz. 64 bit ( compatible)

I think way more important than Haswell is the emergence of DDR4 and it's just right around the corner !
But face it there's always going to be something around the corner and for me it's way too costly to be on the forefront of this technology, but for me better to scrounge for sales on yesterdays leading edge and bargain prices.

When DDR4 comes out, to use it you will have to buy a new motherboard. it's quite interesting technology.
