Okay so my PC is connected to my Home Theater using a 5.1 Optical cable and for the majority of things I don't get 5.1 sound, the only thing I have managed to get it to work on is VLC media player when I select select A/52 over S/PDIF in the Audio Device dropdown (5.1 Only plays through as stereo) and also it works on the Windows 7 supported formats test for both DTS audio and Dolby Digital. I've tried some games with it and I can't seem to get it to work, can anybody help me out with this it will be greatly appreciated!

Hi and welcome

A couple of asks:
  • Can you complete your system specs;
  • What amp are you connecting to?
  • Have you setup your amp or soundcard for audio detection? (I switch everything off on my soundcard, set passthrough for the audio output and configure my amp for auto detection)
  • Has this ever worked?
Regards
