Windows did updates and since I have icons that look like white dogged eared pages that do not work. When it rebooted after updates it appears that .exe files are not working? I did a restore to get it back working but it keeps running the updates in about 4 hours and then my icons go to the white pages. I did some reading and it seems that I need to do something with the iconcashe file? Can someone explain the steps and how this is the fix? Very frustrating and odd behavior. I am running Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit
Thank you in Advance to anyone that can guide me to a fix
Tina

Rebuild Icon Cache Tutorial by Brink. it's strange that an update is causing this, do you have updates set to install automatically? If so, set it to notify you when they're available and install them one by one until you find out which update is causing it.

Boozad,

Thank you I followed the instructions and icons are back. Now to figure out if I have automatic updates. Any idea where to look for that?
Thank you again
Tina
