hi guys

after several attempts to repair some corrupted system files without success, i'm attempting to do a repaire-install.

i've already downloaded "windows 7 ultimate x64 sp1-u ISO" and a copy of "7ZIP" from my digitallife.

according to the tutorial here at the forum, the ISO file should be saved on a seperate partition from the drive where windows is currently installed....in my case the (c) drive.

my problem is, inside computer management, i don't see any unallocated partition to creat a new one from. what i see listed are:

1) recovery partition-no amount listed

2) system reserved (E)-68.6mb free....when i double clicked on it in windows explorer it showed up as "empty folder"

3) system (C)-153gb free

can i creat a partition from any of these? if not how do i go about creating one?
thanks

sandpd,

Really don't know what you are talking about with separate partition.

You can put the iso on dvd with win 7. Just click on the iso and choose BURN.

To put the iso on a usb, stick then:
PREPARE UFD (USB FLASH DRIVE)

Run CMD.EXE as administrator
Type following commands and hit ENTER key after each command.
· DISKPART starts the DiskPart program
· LIST DISK shows numeral assigned to disks
note the numeral assigned to your usb stick
The numeral 2 will be used in this example
· SELECT DISK 2
· DETAIL DISK the info shown will confirm the correctness of your selection
· CLEAN ALL the entire usb stick will be overwritten with zeros
· CREATE PARTITION PRIMARY create a primary partition on the USB stick
· FORMAT FS=NTFS format the partition
· ACTIVE the partition can contain operating system startup files
· ASSIGN the next available letter is assigned to the USB stick
· EXIT exit from the DISKPART program
· EXIT exit from the command shell

Now use 7Zip , choose Extract Files and select you usb stick as the destination.

Go to Control Panel>User Accounts to choose Manage Another Account, then add another Administrative-level account for New Owner - the name can be changed later.

Then you should be able to delete your Account, either placing your files on desktop to make sure you have everything, or deleting them.

Keep in mind that if this is the original Owner's account set up during install it may not entirely delete in all places although all files will be gone. To do that you'd need to run Factory Recovery or Clean Reinstall - Factory OEM Windows 7 which is actually the cleanest way to sell a PC.

To Clean Reinstall preparing the PC without creating any user accounts or naming the PC, letting the end user to do that: Windows 7 Installation - Prepare PC to be Sold - Windows 7 Forums
