Hello,
I put the HTPC (win 7) to S3 sleep when it is idle, but of course the Network wakes it up right after it goes to sleep (withOUT any user accessing the shares on the HTPC, my guess is some services or other devices are pinging the HTPC for whatever reason). So I disable the NIC from waking the system up. But this means that when other network devices go to search, say, for music, from the server, it no longer wakes up. :eek: How does one put an HTPC to sleep without it being woken up by some background task on other devices?
Ya know what I mean?:party::party:

Windows Media Player Network Sharing Service

I think the other computers are using the above service.

I tested that. Enabling the NIC to wake the computer after stopping and disabling that service still only puts the computer to sleep for a few seconds, then it wakes up again.

Perhaps the client includes a HTPC folder in its index or MediaPlayer share or Library.
