Hey everyone,

I updated to 7 ultimate awhile back as a friend let me use their disk. I got the not genuine deal that happened so I have gotten a new product key but no longer have access to the disks. I tried putting the product key in on this install and it said I need a genuine install.

Do I need to buy a new disk or just get the dvd.iso somehow. If anyone has ideas please let me know or pm me. :D

Thanks

There are different situations. If it is a product key from a Genuine Microsoft Retail OS, then you can apply it to any computer provided it is not used by any other computer (one key = one system). If, however, it is an OEM product key, then it cannot be transferred. It has to stay with the first system where the OS was installed.

If key is rejected at Computer>Properties link to Change Product Key, then run a Repair Install which resets activation.

If key is rejected again, make sure you are using the correct version for the key, call MS to activate.
