Need instructions on how to factory restore my desktop

My computer has not been letting me open any downloaded apps such as minecraft and skype and is giving me a disk 1/0 error so I got a windows disk for windows 7 which is what I have now. All I need now is the instructions on how to completely wipe my whole computer in hopes of getting rid of the problem and starting fresh. Please help!
