Need network adapter for windows 7 64bit

I recently built my first computer.

Gigabyte X58A-UD3R
Intel i7-960
6 GB RAM (corsair)
Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit
GeForce GTX570

The old network adapter I had (Linksys WMP54G) doesn't work for 64bit. I need a new network adapter that I know will work with my system. My router is a Linksys WRT54G if it matters.

Any suggestions for a new network adapter would be great. Thanks.

Do you want an internal adapter or an external usb adapter? max you can use is G with your router, so even if you get N, G will be used. That means you can pretty much pull most adapters out of a hat and just choose one, as the benefit of getting high end is negligible, and they are so cheap that low end ones aren't usually for sell.

This makes it easy to pick a standard one off the shelf of some store

an internal PCI is what I'm looking for. I just wanted to make sure it is compatible with 64bit. I'd probably get an N for when I decide to upgrade my router. Just looking for a reliable network adapter that is plug and play with Windows 7 64bit.

I've been looking on Amazon for one but seeing people having issues with drivers for certain adapters. Was hoping someone could give me advice on an adapter they are currently using that didn't have issues with drivers and what not.

PCI as in the very old conventional PCI standard? or is it PCI-e x16? Look for the picture for the difference, under "Form factors": PCI Express - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Here is what the card would need to look like at least, if it was an older PCI (Conventional): Conventional PCI - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia - Don't think the stores sell this anymore, but it should still be online.

my motherboard has a PCIEX16_1 slot in which the video card is plugged, a PCIEX8_1 slot which is hindered by the video card, a PCIEX16_2 slot, a normal PCI slot, a PCIEX8_2 slot, PCIEX1_1 and PCIEX1_2 slots

network adapters most commonly use these: PCIEX1_1 and PCIEX1_2
Should have full compatability

PCI ones will be older usually

You'll be fine to pick one up in most stores that carry them. If you go to best buy as an example, ask the guys which pci-e x1 adapter you should get (N, as you wanted)
