So recently, my DWA-552 is to my disappointment, fried. It wont light up, nothing. I have tried re-installing drivers, etc, etc. But in the end my computer will say it is disconnected. I am not upset as I can easily replace it. It is just I have done USB, which overheats and makes me wait to cool down. And PCI-E which just now fried.

My current internet set-up is like this. We have a satellite connected to a tall structure which than sends the single down to a router. The router then sends the connection about 300 feet to my house and into an *access point*. Then I will wirelessly connect.

So what I am wondering is. What can I do for a new connection. I don't want to take out the access point and replace it with a router because it would cost a bit for a good router and my PC is a bit of a distance from the access point. I would like to do powerline however I have been told that due to the fact that the power for this structure is apart from my house. Would a powerline even work then? Or should I just stick to my gun and get a new USB/ PCI adapter. If so, suggestions would be appreciated.

~Thanks in advanced

I'm not sure I understand what you have posted so help me here.
Inside your computer you have burnt up hardware and over heating hardware. You also want to use the AC power line the utility company has coming to the building for something other than it's normal use of supplying power to the building?

Sorry, but that isn't what I am saying. About the overheating hardware, I WAS using multiple USB Wireless Adapters. But they would overheat due to long usage. I then upgraded to a PCI-E wireless adapter which I installed inside my PC. Just recently, it stopped working completely. What i am asking for is advice on what I should do to get internet again. Should I go back and get a USB or PCI-E. If so, what kind should I get.

As for the powerline adapters, I am wondering if they work through a transformer. As the place where my router is, is a different electrical than my house, where my PC is.

I don't believe powerline would work.

I would just buy a new pci e adapter.
