Hello,

I have been receiving a side-by-side configuration error every time I want to run a .exe file I just downloaded. I got to the root of the problem, which is a corrupted manifest file. I have no other computer that runs Windows 7 that I can get a copy of the file from and I could not find a copy of the manifest file online. The name of the replacement manifest file is x86_microsoft.windows.i..utomation.proxystub_6595b64144ccf1df_1.0.7600.16385_none_9d148a8db8d32238.manifest

This is a last ditch effort to get the replacement file. Thank you in advance.

You might be in luck because I actually have two of them sitting on my computer according to Everything.exe.

The first location is an interesting one. I downloaded a program long ago called, Win7PE_SE and in its folder is this manifest file. The other location is on my computer in the C:\Windows\winsxs\Manifests directory. Both are exactly the same according to an MD5 hash check using the program HashTools. I then right clicked the file in HashTools and checked to see if that hash was already indexed at Virus Total for the file upload to make sure it didn't have any malicious payload, and it didn't according to the results here.

The zip file attached here is the manifest file you requested and its scanned result is here with an SHA256 hash of: 9BFF88CCD556C2E60E822D49375D0A6F7A72EE05FFAE31FE3FA5DEBA94BA6E82

You can install Notepad++, right click the manifest file and Open With Notepad++.

PS: If you have a Windows 7 install disk or ISO, just install that in VMware Workstation Player 15 (higher than 15 won't run in 7), and you now have an OS withen an OS. The main computer's OS would be called the "host." And the OS running inside VMware Workstation Player would be called the "guest." To copy/paste data back and fourth from the guest and host you'd need to install VMware Tools in the guest OS. The option is there at the top under File I believe. Sometimes VMware Tools gets installed automatically.

Vmware has pretty decent USB emulation (virtualization?) ability, but if you're messing with USB 3.0 and above, you'll need to change that option in the guest OS options where you chose CPU cores, RAM size and what not. Just food for thought.
