My first post here although I have referenced the expertise shown here frequently. My problem has me stumped: have been searching for answers and trying different solutions for the past three days.
My problem: I have a software app that REQUIRES me to install .NET framework 2.0 (even if I already have a higher version that includes the 2.0). I have version 3.5.1 turned ON (checked) in Windows 7 features and updates have installed version 4.8 as well via Windows updates.
My app (called CineCap Velocity) was developed about 10 years ago and only works on Windows 7 32-bit systems. It is a special video capture program written for a company called Moviestuff in Texas that allows frame-by-frame capture of 8mm and 16mm filmstrips with some special hardware.
I have tried every way I could find to try to install another copy of NET Framework 2.0 but the program keeps terminating with the message "need to turn on Net Framework in Windows features" (it's been turned on and off multiple times with computer restarted after each change. It still gives me the error even though the box is checked ON.
Does anyone here know of a way to install (a separate copy of) New Framework 2.0 on a Windows 7 Pro 32-bit system?
Here is what the app installation program says:
CINECAP VELOCITY™ HD:
STREAMING CINE CAPTURE
SOFTWAREVERSION 1.4.0.026 March 2011

If you have not installed Microsoft .NET Framework 2.0 on your machine prior to this installation, please stop the installation and do so at this time. If you have a later version of the framework installed, you must still install version 2.0 (older and newer versions of .NET may coexist on your machine).

Any help here?
Thanks
ps: the specific problem I am having is that the the hardware should be passing mouse "sync pulses" (clicks) for each frame of film captured. I can hear the sound clicks/pulses through my speakers via the CinePac Velocity application UNTIL I hit the "capture" button in the app and then the pulses are not heard anymore. These pulses are needed to be present during the capture process in order to synch the captured frames with the program. I am assuming (perhaps incorrectly) that the Net Framework 2.0 is the problem.
