Hi everybody I am Rubi from India and I need some advice and knowledge about network setup and wifi. I am very new towards this wifi setup so please excuse me for my probably stupid question. Ok I am currently using BSNL broadband (2Mbps) which I get through my landline telephone which come with a ADSL modem Nokia Seman C2110. Now recently I got a new laptop and also a Samsung galaxy mobile which had wifi connectivity. I am thinking to change my existing modem with something which has wifi capacity so that I can connect all the devices. I am thinking to buy this D-Link wireless – N300 router (Flipkart: D-Link Wireless-N 300 Router: Router). Since I don’t have much knowledge so can somebody take a look into the feature and please tell me if this model be a good one for my need. Also if I get that D-link model will I still need that Nokia Modem which I originally got from BSNL?? Also in the next month there is a chance that I will be transferred to a different location so I am thinking to get a tata photon plus broadband connection or reliance 3G netconnect which comes with a USB modem so that I will be able to access internet everywhere by just pluging in the USB modem. Will I be able to use this D-Link wireless N300 router with this USB modem for better security?

If that model doesnot work then please suggest me a router modem with wifi which will be able to connect all those devices which are BSNL broadband ( which I get from landline telephone), Tata Photon Plus Broadband which comes with a USB Modem, one desktop two laptop and Samsung galaxy mobile.

I am googling lots of information about wifi security but if you have some link which you think is usefull for understanding networking and wifi etc then please post them I really need those.

Thanks again for your time and advice and sorry for my long post.

Regards
Rubi

edit: I think this router will work for me because it has a USB port but the problem is it don't have wifi. Can somebody provice a similar product. http://www.dlink.co.in/products/?pid=438

Hi Rubi, welcome to the forums.

Personally i would not settle for a DLink router, rather i'd go with a Linksys brand but that's just me. That said if you do go with that model DLink router it looks like it's just a router and you will need the nokia modem. There are modem/router all-in-one device out there but you already have the nokia modem so just find yourself a good router.

Setup should be like this:

Modem ===> D-Link ----(wi fi)----> Laptop/other wireless devices.

Thanks aem for your reply. D-link router are readily available here thats why i started looking in D-link but i will take a look into Linksis too as you suggested. Another question is there a good modem plus router with wifi available which uses a duel approach i.e connects to the internet via either wired connectivity or via a 3G SIM card into its built in SIM slot. ( both service need not be active at same time I will only work with one at a time)
