So I am thinking of getting a new HDD, or rather a secondary one, now the purpose of this HD will be to install games only on it, what I am looking for is a sata2/3 HDD thats fast, Don't need a huge drive since I doubt imma even have 300 gb worth of games on it at any one time. Bascally I am looking for a high speed hd to improve game loading times. I was thinking of a SSD but I keep hearing how fast they burn out especally under use. So looking for a more conventional hdd.

Here is where I will most likely order it from so if you can find one at that website would be perfect: NCIX.com - Canada's Premier Computer Store - Online PC Discount Store, Buy Computer Accessories

Thanks as always

P.s. why is it when i type the short url to that website, it makes a huge ass link like above?

Oh this website automatically pulls the title from the page you link to.

SSDs actually don't burn out. I'm afraid I can't give some definite cases, but a few members on this forum have older ones that still work despite heavy use.

How's this one?
Newegg.ca - Western Digital WD VelociRaptor WD3000HLHX 300GB 10000 RPM 32MB Cache SATA 6.0Gb/s 3.5" Internal Hard Drive -Bare Drive

Thought the price is half when you drop down to 7200rpm, which is still pretty fast
SAMSUNG Spinpoint F4 HD322GJ/U 320GB 7200 RPM 16MB Cache SATA 3.0Gb/s 3.5" Internal Hard Drive -Bare Drive

Any reason for your preference for NCIX? Sorry I'm not using it, but it's a pain to find anything there.

Its because I live in canada and its based in here, where as newegg.ca has alot of their stuff sent from the USA so I get stuck paying a duty charge on top of the normal taxes.

I Was checking NCIX and found this: http://ncix.com/products/?sku=69936&vpn=VTX4-25SAT3-128G&manufacture=OCZ Technology

Check out the OCZ website that was linked and they give a 5 year warranty, 128 gb should be sufficent for gaming, especally since I tend to uninstall games I don't play much anymore. I'll probally have to check to see if I have the right mounting bay though.

For games etc -- best solution -- get a USB3 card and one of those new Passport 2TB (yes TWO TB) drives that are self powered with USB3 speed too. (This will also work on USB2 but much slower of course).

(The device costs around 130 EUR -- not bad for a small self powered 2 TB (note not 1 TB) device that fits into your pocket easily.

The USB3 connection is lightning fast and you can then have your games available on other machines too.

Also if you get a laptop or the new Ms SURF PRO tablet which has USB3 connections you've got your games available there too.

Cheers

The problem with that is many games aren't "portable" or "self-contained".
