Need some help with Windows 7 Search and Hard Drive Pro

Hi, if anyone can help me solve these issues it would be greatly appreciated.

Wanted to install Windows 7 Professional on a new 320GB hard drive. (Windows Vista was installed on an 80GB that was filled)

#1. Installed new drive in system – had to format in Windows Vista (Assigned drive letter B: because c: was already in use by old drive)

#2. Installed Windows 7 Pro on new 320GB B: drive

#3. Booted to windows 7 on new drive (had to select between Windows 7 or Windows Vista because both drives were installed)

#4. Copied user profiles from Windows Vista hard drive to Windows 7 hard drive.

Problems

#5. Windows search will not find anything in the users' documents folder, although everything is there. Document library will show when "arranged by folder" but if you change to "arrange by date modified" or anything else they all disappear. Also Windows file index will not index any files.

#6. Unhooked old hard drive, new hard drive will not boot by itself, says invalid system disk

First make a system image of everything, in case of problems. Make new accounts, then close the problem accounts. You will be asked if you want to transfer information to the new account, indicate that you do. Your new accounts should show in search.

Thank you for the info. What's the best way to make the system image? And just to clarify, could the fact that I copied and pasted the user profiles from the old Windows Vista hard drive to the Windows 7 drive after I made new accounts with the same user names be part of the problem?

To answer your last question, I think that the answer is yes. To make a system image, just type system image in search (by start menu) and follow instructions. Incidentally, for any appl, search is the best place to start. If the problem is not resolved you may have to remake the user accounts, since you pasted.

EDIT
After things are up and running, make both a system image and a system restore (go to search). From that point on any problems can be restored to a previous state. You should also schedule regular system restore and system image so that you can always go back to earlier and better times.

Since you pasted from Vista, you may have to bite the bullet and make new user accounts.
