Need to logoff from IE8 (Sometimes) to unfreeze.

On many occasions, after I close IE8, seems like iexplorer.exe freezes. I can open Task Manager via Ctrl+Alt+Del but it does not respond to any mouse/cursor action. Therefore I can't "End Process" since the window does not respond. I can see two iexplorer.exe processes still running but I cant terminate them.

The workaround is to "Log Off" and then log back in. I am the only user and have full administration rights.

When I log off, I can see all pending actions blink momentarily before I am logged off. Ex; Start pullup opens, Taskbar right click popup shows up, etc.

Other than that it seems to work fine. Only four (4) add ons on the Browser; IDM, AVG, Adobe and Google.

SpyBot, AVG and Malware Bytes don't find anything wrong.

Any suggestions?

yep. type event viewer in search. go to the windows logs>application tab. Look for errors (red in left hand column) that have app hang, app crash, etc and explorer in them. Tell us the event ID and source code for them

That sounds like a singularly odd problem. Have you tried just closing it by going to File->Exit?

About the end process thing, use the UP, DOWN, LEFT, and RIGHT arrowkeys to move around and TAB to switch to the Processes tab, then down to iexplorer.exe, then press Alt+E then the Confirm End Process window pops up, then press Enter to confirm. Hope I helped.

About Firefox and Chrome, I have Chrome, I refuse to use IE8. I download a lot of things and prefer to know exactly where it all goes, and get there easily, everything I DL in Chrome goes to "%userprofile%\My Documents\Downloads" which is very convenient to access. So whatever suits you, just Chrome suits me.
