Need to recover files! help please.

okay so my computer won't properly boot. it freezes at the starting windows screen and freezes in safe mode. i have an external hard drive that i could put the stuff on but i don't have a case that i could pull the hard drive out of my laptop and drag and drop. i can't find my hard drive or files using knoppix which i may be using it wrong. i'm beginning to think the only way i'll get my files is to take it to a professional and i really hope not. i have a few dozen pictures that aren't backed up, i have most backed up, i was about to back up when it started this. any help please?

Do you have the Windows Installation disc or a System Repair Disc? Then you can try Copy/Paste in the Recovery Console
using right-click menu to copy and paste, and try copy to a USB stick. Connect it to a USB 2 port and not a USB 3 or drivers will be missing.

If you don't have a disc you can create one on another computer with Win 7 64 bit if that's what you have (Not sure but I think that's a requirement) http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/2083-system-repair-disc-create.html

You need a stick. A 16GB stick costs appr. $5. Check at Walmart.
