Solved Need to Resize or Remove System Reserved Partition

Hi, I have a software Asus Express Gate which refuse to start because I don't have enough space available in my System reserved partition, (ya I know this is the reason co'z I've searched alot) so this is why I want to resize my system reserved partition which is currently on 100MB but the problem is that I don't know how but I have a Dynamic 1TB Disk, it could be basic disk but I don't want to go through all that formatting and reinstalling windows, deleting partitions and so on.

I could find a way to convert my dynamic disk to basic without loosing data , but still I think it's much risky , here's the article and software which converts dynamic disk to basic without loosing data :

but as of the first article I can't do that because maybe i'm on dynamic disk, so I can't see the option mark as active co'z it's always disabled..

Now the only option left for me is I think convert my disk to Basic, which is kinda freaks me out, but please read these out and help me I really want that software express gate to run on my system..

You can then boot into Easeus Partition Wizard to shrink your C drive and extend the system reserved partition.

Use free Partition Wizard bootable CD version 4 to convert Dynamic to Basic non-destructively. It's still a free feature in that version: pw422.zip ISO - Windows Live

I'm not sure there is a tutorial on this site for that task with that tool.

well I have already purchased EASUS so I can't afford buying another one, as the link you provided says I need Professional Edition. So I think I will give EASUS a shot, but what can you think of time frame ? How much time will it take on a 1 TB disk ?

Yes, but that method is not as problem-free, according to what I have read here. Make a bootable disk to reduce chances of complications.

Just burn the ISO to a blank disc and boot into it - there's no need to spend any more money.

well, well, just finished installing windows 7.

Booted with Partition Wizard DVD Converted the DIsk To Basic - took few secs

Resized C Drive to Reduce 500+ MB -took near 45 mins to move data

Now I have unallocated space of 700+ MB (I don't care)

Set C Drive to Active

Tried to Convert All 3 Primary Partitions to Logical Drives but Only D and E could be done , Why not F ?

When I restarted I got BootMGR error , so I didn't know how to solve that so I think of reinstalling windows 7 by formatting c drive (I lost my assassin's creed revelations) save files :S

Now installing ton of apps , games and doing windows 7 x64 settings.

Thanks alot guys, Express Gate is now working pretty smooth, I will merge that remaining 700+ MB someday to my C drive but it will take some Time I guess.

When I posted up the zip file to older PW version 4.2 saying that it Basic Conversion is still a free function in that version, why would you think you have to pay for it? Hello?

Post up a screenshot of your maximized Disk Mmgt drive map with listings showing all columns. Use Snipping TOol in Start Menu. We'll give you easy steps to recover the 700 mb - where do you want it?

Win7 needs a Primary boot partition. Use Logical for data only. YOu can have up 3 Primary + unlimited Logical sub-partitions.

well I did convert the F drive to Logical and resized the c drive (restarted pc for operation) to Merge that 700MB space into c drive, screenshot attached.

On a side note how was it possible to fix boot manager co'z when I inserted the Win7 dvd it started the installation after partitioning, I mean there was even no option to repair windows:shock:

Please restate this question as I cannot understand it.

If you boot Win7 DVD there should be a Repair My Computer choice on second screen as shown in Option Two here: System Recovery Options .

But repair might be impossible with a Dynamic Disk, which is meant to span partitions across multiple HD's.

Is everything working fine now?

I was trying to ask how can you fix your boot manager ? for example if you just deleted your system reserved partition , how you're gonna copy boot files into c drive ?

and no the repair screen never showed up , it just went auto installing and copying files then come to a halt on partitioning window !

In that case you'd mark the Win7 partition Active: Partition - Mark as Active (Method Two)

Then run Startup Repair - Run 3 Separate Times until Win7 boots on its own.

Is it possible you're using Factory OEM Recovery disk instead of WIn7 installation DVD?

I've not heard of a booted Win7 DVD not having Repair console on second screen unless it's modded somehow by OEM.

I would make a System Repair Disk
