Solved Need to secure PDF docs

OK, so sometime I want to print a PDF doc where nobody can makes changes to it, insert stuff in to it, or extract the info from it.

In other words, all I want therm to be able to do is print it and that's it...

On my secondary XP machine, I was using a program by Software602 that allowed me to do this... but, in order to upgrade for my new Win 7 machine I'd have to pay $119 so I'd like to see if there is a free (or low cost) PDF printing program out there that would allow me to do this with PDF docs.

Any leads on something like this?

I don't need to password protect... this is a business doc to be sent by email for printing only and I want to make it where all they can do is print.

Yes, I know there's always a way around any security I put on the PDF file but I want to make it as hard as possible for anyone to lift the info from the doc, or change any of the content.

Password protection is not what I need... I need security as in "Print only"

Okay, found something you might be looking for:
So.. First off; install Apache OpenOffice OR LibreOffice.
1. Open the PDF in either OpenOffice or LibreOffice and select File => Export as PDF.
2. Click on the Security tab and set a permissions password by clicking the corresponding button.
3. Tick the Not Permitted box in the Changes section.
4. If you want; make other changes.
5. Click Export to start converting your document. Select a suitable name and location for the new PDF file.
6. DONE! :)

If it involves setting a password on the PDF doc... I can't use it.

I just want people to be able to open the PDF doc without using a password, and ALL they can do is print it.

I think you can skip the password process. Set a password only if you want to edit it. Follow the guide but skip the password thing! :)

Nevermind... I figured out how to do it with Software602's new free version at

I didn't realize they have a free basic version now, which is basically what I paid $100 for a few years ago as it does all the same stuff.
