Need to use Software Rendering after updating Flash Player

10 day old computer. Came with Flash Player 11.2.xxx. and IE9.

Today Flash finally offered an update. I Updated to 11.4.402.278. Immediately noticed a problem with web pages freezing. CPU usage spiking. Traced it to Flash as that was the only change in the last day. If I disable the Shockwave Flash Object add-on web pages didn't freeze, but of course no Flash content.

I have uninstalled, reinstalled Flash numerous times and it seems if I go back to 11.2.xxx things work fine. If I go to 11.4.xxx the only way to resolve the issue is to check "Use software rendering instead of GPU rendering".

I did uninstall and reinstall the Graphics driver. I have Intel HD. No difference.

This is concerning to me. I never have had this issue with Flash on my other computer which runs IE8.

I see numerous posts about similar problems with Flash that required using software rendering but that was long ago with v10.3. Could there be a problem with this update?

What else can I do? I really dislike having to bypass my GPU on a brand new computer. Also dislike that I've lost 2GB during all the uninstall/reinstall.

Yes I believe all Windows updates have been installed.

There is a long thread at adobe.com about 11.4 causing problems with IE9. The reco was to roll back to 11.3 but even that version is causing me problems.

does 11.2 still work? Is there anything that would make it difficult to stay with 11.2 until Adobe releases a version that works?

Even after reinstalling 11.2 (using the computers software recovery program) I still seem to be having issues with some sites. I uninstalled the other version(s) via control panel and also used Adobe's uninstaller as well which is what Adobe recommends.

Interesting that Adobe themselves acknowledge a problem w/ IE9 and 11.4 but they and the posters on the forum say 11.3 should be fine. But I still had trouble with it. That is concerning.

No other IE9 users here having problems?

That I don't know. Is there any reason you prefer Internet Explorer? Or it simply the web browser you're familiar with?

If you want to try different browsers out, then check out Xmarks, which will allow you to bring all of your bookmarks to the other browsers.
