After a lot of headaches I isolated the problem, both the integrated graphics card and the wlan driver stop working correctly (cant use aero and cant find/connect any wlan) after I install .net framework 4.6.2.

I tried uninstalling it and setting "OnlyUseLatestCLR" reg key to 0 or to 1 but none worked, the only solution I can come up is formatting, but while I can do it now, it might be very inconvenient in the future if I encoutner this problem again, so I would like to solve it properly. If possible having net 4.6.2 installed, but if not I could live with it.

Im using W7 SP1 x64 with the latest updates and used Driver Booster and Driver Talent to get the latest drivers. I emphasize again that they work correctly JUST until I install net 4.6.2.

Could you help me?

Thanks

Hello brick mate have you tried a system restore? if not then do so to before you installed the .NET thing.

Edit: I meant to add too that those driver softwares you have installed I would not have either on my machines I prefer to do the driver stuff manually and from the manufacturers sites.

I would not touch those driver programs you have install with a 10 foot pole.

Check Windows updates. If your system needs .net framework 4.6.2. it will be included in suggested Windows 7 updates.
At the present time both my system run quite well on net framework 4.6.1.

I finally found the solution. Uninstalling didnt work, so I thought that maybe the installer messed something. I used the .net Framework cleanup tool, but it alone didnt work, so I reinstalled .net Framework 3.5 SP1.
I dont know if it would have worked if I just reinstalled 3.5 after installing 4.6.2 or if it would have worked if I didnt use the clean up tool.

About these driver softwares, they are actually pretty good, and I tell you this after years and years of always searching the official drivers in the pages of the mainboard, graphics, etc. Those programs only fail at very rare cases, like years ago it messed my USB drivers in windows 8, or Driver Booster not being able to find the integrated graphics driver for Windows 10 in this laptop from 2010, tho Driver Talent was able to.
They also use to find more updated versions than the official ones in the mainboard pages because they just dont care to keep their pages updated, but the companies that produce the chipset/audio/etc (intel, realtek, etc) keep releasing versions and its a pain to keep a track on them.

I actually Im curious if there is any actual reason for not using them... Maybe you are mixing them with the fake ones full of advertising? Those that get installed in your computer and start telling you to pay or your computer will melt.

No real reason mate apart from what Layback has said in that they can be causes of system issues. I think that if you need a driver for a device then where better than the manufacturers site to get it. Having said that I have used Slim Drivers in the past when the manufacturers site is so convoluted for example like the Dell, Creative and EVGA sites I have to resort to that software.

Even so I always use Unchecky to stop any add ons that come with it and also uninstall it when I have finished. In fact I keep Unchecky on all my machines installing it from the word go after a reinstall - it stops sites like Adobe loading those irritating add ons that are checked to install alongside Adobe.;)

But as a general rule I don't worry about drivers too much unless it is affecting my systems.

It's simple for me and I like it that way.

I seldom update drivers. If I'm not having problems I leave the drivers alone.
In the last year I have probable update my video card driver 2 times and the audio driver 1 time.
Those new drivers are posted on this forum, so no problem finding them.

I am the same as Jack and well if it isn't broken........ Personally I think some people are fixated on updating stuff all the time and it's when you can run in to problems.

At the present time both my system run quite well on net framework 4.6.1.

I started getting those weird green pixels I mentioned in another thread after installing the latest update for 4.6.1 from Windows Update on the 20th of December. I wonder if its worth uninstalling that update.

Edit: Removing that update didn't fix the issue.. dammit. Now I have to wait until mscorsvw does its thing and re-install the update. Actually, the update is kind of pointless right now.
