.NET framework "Update Manager Has Stopped Working"

I'm not sure how or where to address this issue.
As of 4 days ago, I am randomly having a box pop up that says "Update Manager Has Stopped Working"
I've been able to use the Realtime Data through my Avast to find that it's C:\Windows\Microsoft.NET\Framework64\v2.0.50727\dw20.exe that is attempting to run, but apparently failing.
How can I fix this?
I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling the latest version of the .NET framework, I've also attempted to use the .NET clean up tool, both to no avail.

System restore shouldn't affect data. You can image before system restore so in case something goes wrong you can restore back. Anyway,

I have the same dw20.exe, I don't have office.

You can scan with Malwarebytes Anti-Malware free if too concerned about an infection.

So I believe, you haven't found the failing application yet. You have to find which updater is failing.

Gokay - that doesn't work.

I have tried scanning with Malwarebytes. I have tried more things than I can list/count.

I'm turning to these forums as a last resort.

The file that's failing is located here:
C:\Windows\Microsoft.NET\Framework64\v2.0.50727\dw20.exe
as I said in my initial post.

I would LIKE to find a way to block that file from running, or to remove it.

Trying to delete it, I get a message that I need "permission from trustedinstaller to make changes to this file"

Ok, I guess the above method was for an older Windows version.
You can search Google for "disable dw20.exe windows 7", there are many hits.

You can also check Event Viewer for errors (may be there, may be not), to actually find the cause instead of stopping the error reporter.

As GokAy has said the dw20 is actually an error reporter, so there may be a an underlying problem somewhere else.

What program/s do you get this error on. Have you loaded any new software lately.
