Check for mdnsresponder.exe in the task manager.

Check the browsers so that they are not set to use a proxy connection.

Could not see mdsnresponder.exe in task manager

And as far as I can tell chrome is not set using a proxy

Any ideas?

Maybe you have installed the firewall provided by your network driver disk. Next time install only the driver itself, no other software that came with the driver. Also you may check your antivirus, maybe it has an firewall integrated in it. (For example Eset Nod32 Smart Security 4 it is known to give us problem when browsing)

windows 7 internet conection problems-SOLUTION

Turns out there is an issue with a driver setting in both that is causing this disconnections. If you go to device manager in to the driver settings for the CARD you are using, and under the advanced tab there is a setting for Receive side scaling set to be enabled by default. By disabling this option, my network connection came back alive and has not lost connection yet.

Hope this helps anyone having this issue.
