Hi there, in win7, With services 'Windows_Instrumentation' and 'Volume_Shadow_Copy' Disabled a NetFramework 4.7 installation failed with fatal consecuences:

A 'nice' blue screen appeared and *the whole 'net' part of the system* seems dissapeared.

Only 'Safe Mode withOut network' is possible to access.

'Recover system point' was disable cause needs volume_shadow_copy service to work.

_The goal is not re-install Windows or formatting HHDD, is recover the system repairing it.

Suggestions?

Thanks A Lot guys!

I'd first try to turn on WMI and make sure the following are also turned on:

Remote Procedure Call

Internet Connection Sharing.

IP Helper

Security Center

You can also try this. Run command prompt and enter sfc /scannow.

There is also the option of an in place repair install. Repair Install

I wouldn't monkey with services. To get an idea on what you can and shouldn't turn off, read here: Service Configurations | Black Viper | www.blackviper.com

Better yet, download your Windows version of registry keys called "Default Windows 7 Service Pack 1 Services Start Key."

Extract and double click to change the services back to normal. You'll have to reboot. Again, make sure it's the right Windows version. This one is for SP1, but you need to pick between Starter, Home, Pro and Ultimate. And whether it's 32 or 64 bit.
