Network Adapter Driver not found after Clean Install of Windows 7

Hello,
After spending my entire friday trying to fix my mom's pc, I'm stumped... She recently purchased a new 2T HDD, 8 more GB of 1333 DDR3 Ram (12 GB total), and Windows 7 Home Premium x64. Everything was installed smoothly and works with the exception of the network adapter. I've installed the network driver posted on EVGA's website as well as tried many different suggested techniques (with the exception of trying to reinstall the OS), but still have no luck.

I do still have the OS on the original 150GB HDD she had previously however it was 32bit Professional that I got from school (Don't have the original disk anymore) and wouldn't accept any more Ram higher than 3GB and she needed more hard drive space as well.

If someone could help without having me reinstall the OS on the 2T HDD if possible, I would greatly appreciate it.

CPU: Intel Core i3 530 2.93GHz
RAM: Corsair 2 x 2GB 1333 DDR3, GSkill 2 x 4GB 1333 DDR3 (12GB Total)

HDDs: Seagate Barracuda 150GB, Seagate Barracuda Green 2000GB

Plug in the old HD, boot into the new Win7, in Device Manager open Network Adapter, click on Driver tab, choose Update driver, browse to the old Win7's Windows>system 32 folder to install the driver. It will always be there.

There is more information here about getting and maintaining a perfect Clean Reinstall - Factory OEM Windows 7 including how drivers are handled differently in Win7 than before.

You also are entitled to use 32- or 64-bit with each Win7 license so didn't need to buy another copy. You can use the Student license now on another PC, in either bit version.

Hi, I know that I am new here and hope I receive help from the community despite of my english that may throw you off a bit. I would like to start with my issue similar stated above by other poster. I recently installed windows 7 64 bit OS couple of days ago, eagerly to get connected. However, I've encountered a problem. I have searched on the internet for the solution and the specified file name and came up with the same file name and ended up nothing. When I tried installing the driver I only see two listed:
NVIDIA SMU Driver - 690 k
NVIDIA Storage Driver - 13821 K

According to the ASUS official website support, it is the same in that file on its site.

FILE NAME: NVIDIAC55MCP51_Chipset_V1537_Win7.zip

Also, I have to disregard gregrocker's post because it does not help past installing the driver because it yet to be seen. I will have to come back checking this site to solve this issue.

Rightclick on the network icon in bottom right System Tray to run Troubleshooter. It should tell you the problem.

What drivers are installed in Device Manager under Network adapters?

Have you plugged in by wire to see if it connects or loads the Ethernet driver? Try that now. Try also right clicking on PC in Devices and Printers to enable under Device Settings to auto-update hardware.

Have you tried installing the network LAN driver from the PC model Support Downloads webpage?

The steps for handling drivers are quite specific in the Reinstall tutorial linked. Is that what you disregarded?

wouldn't accept any more Ram higher than 3GB

If the BIOS would accept it I have put 4GB RAM on the motherboard and the only issue I saw was Windows would only display somewhere between 3.35GB and 3.5GB. I did keep in mind that the BIOS assigns some of the RAM to the onboard video adapter before the OS loads so there really wasn't much loss depending upon what was going to video.

howdy, actually. since then i have found the problem that i overlooked. in the bios, under advance i think where network config resides. it was turned off. this is why the driver installation did not show the network card driver. so now it's all good. so to put in emphasis, best to check the bios for installing network driver. I dont know why it was not on as i thought it would be a default.

OK thanks for reporting back. We'll have to remember that but I've never heard of LAN settings in BIOS being disabled during reset of BIOS to defaults. Maybe you changed some other settings there? This is the purpose of resetting the BIOS to defaults so that any settings in error can be put right.

not a problem. i was fiddling around a bit when i had trouble getting it to completely installed. hurdles there and there. anyways, the board is a8n-e. in it, the bios shows lan and wake on lan in advance i think. i am only typing this in memory. so i learn on trial by fire.

I have recently installed windows 7 ultimate and I can not connect my laptop with wifi! It is saying that I have problem with network adapter or access points. I have tried disabling network adapters and updating them. NOTHING HAPPENED!

What does the Troubleshooter say from the steps I gave above?

Is the wireless button turned on? Every laptop has one. Sometimes is is an F key. Look in your Manual on the PC's SUpport Downloads webpage. While there download and install the latest wireless LAN driver.

Plug in by wire, enable Automatically deliver drivers via Windows Update (Step 3), see if the Ethernet driver is installed and connect to network, or Download it from PC Downloads webpage and install. Once connected, check for Updates and install all Important and Optional as there may be another wireless driver Win7 prefers and/or patches to make it work correctly. Keep checking back for more Updates until no more are offered.

If you're talking about the driver in the old folder.. it's not there! Either the folder is not there or the driver! Okay. So, I'll try doing what you just said about the updates now. And thank you!
