network asking for password all of a sudden

i'm a little confused.

Ive been using windows 7 networking in a workgroup between 3 win7 PC's with no problems for ages, but recently it's been asking for a password to connect to a share folder when i have password protect sharing turned off in advanced sharing options.

I don;t want to use homegroup but i do not have "use user accounts and passwords to connect to other computers" checked.

its started asking for a password just like annoying xp used to do and i have "everyone" full perm in sharing and ntfs security on the shared folder.
