What did you do to get internet working with the modem?

reset the modem (there was a little button i hadn't seen earlier) and uncheck IPv6


resetting the router didn't work

that's still kinda odd the modem was working ok with the router and other machines plus I had you unplug the power to everything to resend IP's like I said I would do the same thing to the router at this point and see if you can get it working

Ok the more info the better, this has been so not the norm that's why I came right back to this after getting a few hours of sleep lol...

already tought that, dead NIC can't be the problem (wich i tought was) (since otherwise trough the modem would not work either)
and thanks for helping

the router also stopped recognizing the income, when looking at Multi-DMZ it would still show unkown. Now it doesn't show unkown anymore (and neither shows any form of connection)

That's right I was just getting concerned about all the cable swapping and router no router all the changes with out restarting things in the right order.

here is how I normally make changes

1. turn off PC
2. unplug power to modem
3. unplug power to router

now the exact order below is important

1. plug in power to modem
2. plug in power to router
3. turn on PC

Resetting the router won't help. If it's not compatible it's most likely not ever going to work correctly. I've been seeing these problems for months on end and the only clear resolution is to replace the router.

Hey I'm all for making old stuff work but in this case I fear you are only wasting your time. With the correct hardware setting up the network should be easy bussiness.

He's now back to XP and having the same problem so now it's not compatible with XP either?

Lights

No lights are on or just for the port servicing that computer

If only it were that simple. I can tell you for sure that if your router isn't on the Windows 7 compatiblity list that it's very unlikely to work for you. The reason your router isn't working is because you messed with it.
A simple reset will fix it for XP, but as for Windows 7...I doubt it.

Been doing this a long time guys, since Jan, in fact. I'm pretty sure about this ok.

I would try to do a reset on the router also you may check for a firmware update for the router as well.

Also in my opinion that's not the best router anyway.

i know, im not talking about windows 7 anymore, but resetting the router didn't fix the error in XP

dont talk about a bad router (i know , going to buy a new one pretty soon i guess)
also the sitecom website doesn't show the dc-202 anymore (and neither their firmware updates)
