Hello,
I recently removed my Windows 7 operating system to install Ubuntu, but later realized that I needed Windows 7 to run some programs for school. I've since installed Windows 7(from an iso image my school provided) to my computer, and partitioned my hard drive between Windows and Ubuntu. This has all worked quite well, except Windows 7 is saying that I need to install a network driver, and it refuses to connect to the internet. Ubuntu is connecting to the internet without problem, so I can use it to download any files I may need. How to I go about installing the required network driver? I have no idea what brand of hardware I would be installing it for, also, and perhaps need a way to figure which hardware device it is.
Thanks!

hi philosafari, and welcome to sevenforums,

it's probably a good idea to use ubuntu to visit the hp website, tap in your model number, and look for network drivers for windows 7. download them to your windows partition or somewhere else accessible when using windows.

then obviously boot into 7 and install them.

i'm not sure if you're asking about ethernet or wireless drivers.

have a look here.

Thanks for replying!

At first I figured it was just the wireless, but when I tried to hook up with an ethernet to my router, it still didn't work, and it says "network driver", so I dunno.

ok, try downloading the intel ethernet driver from the link i gave you above.

unfortunately i don't know which of the wireless drivers you need. i haven't used ubuntu for a long time, there must be somewhere where it tells you what hardware you have in your machine, so you can chose the appropriate wifi driver for your windows installation.

good luck and let us know how you get on! although i won't be able to personally reply as i'm off to bed now as it's 23.15 and i have an early start tomorrow. however there are many other forum members here who should be able to help if you have further problems.

That worked! Thanks so much! The intel driver was the correct one and installing it was entirely uneventful.
