Network notification is a red cross when I'm connected to wifi

This happens after I tried to install a bluetooth software. It failed to work as described so I uninstalled it. Now my network notification icon is always a red cross. But when I hover my mouse over it, it says I have internet access. And of course I do.

Some progress...

I followed an instruction of sb who had similar problem (not exactly the same), so I uninstalled all my network card (but drivers), I restarted my computer. Now the red cross becomes a "Network available" status (signal bar with a yellow flower) when I have already connected to my wifi, when it should have been white signal bars (connected status).

I dont know if it is some progress or what?

You might try going into your Device Manger in the Control Panel, go down to Network Adaptors and expand it, it should show your Bluetooth connection which you can either disable or uninstall.

If you are still having problems please post a screen shot of your ipconfig/all and I will have a look at it. Option 2 in the link below shows you how to obtain the ipconfig/all.

I had this problem a while ago. I spent days trawling Google, trying various registry hacks, uninstalling the network adapter, downloading various programs / scripts to fix it.

Nothing worked.

In the end I had a HDD crash and had to reinstall. This was the only thing that fixed it, but it's drastic.

I suggest that if it's not stopping your net connection, learn to live with it.

Yes it seems that disabling all Bluetooth or other connections that aren't being used is what solves this problem.

This is a very typical fix for network problem with Windows 7 which seems to have problems figuring out which network interface is being used. The Microsoft virtual wifi mini port adaptor can also be problematic, not to mention any VPN connections.
