I have had a windows XP Network and everything was working fine, but I got a free copy of Windows 7 (and it is a legit copy from MS) and installed it on one of our machines. Everything is up and runnig fine except trying to connect the network printer has being a pain, the printer is a HP Deskjet 1220c. My router is the Asus WL600g which has the print server built in.

The settings for the network are set to share and printers are checked.

All help would be grateful.

Thanks

Hi and welcome

Sometimes in a mixed environment you have to locally install the printer via cable on the win 7 machine to get the driver installed.

Just a thought

My HP network printer got "lost" today when my ISP did a big reboot. Despite the troubleshooters etc, nothing seemed to work until I removed and reinstalled the printer. Seems odd in that Win7 has done a far better job than previous OSs of finding and automatically installing printers.

Did you try updating the drivers through Windows Update?

yeh, I have tried reinstalling the printer but I don't know if the problem could be that we have 1 printer on the network and 1 attached directly to the computer. I am thinking it could be the firmware for the router which could be stopping it connecting the printer.

I mamanged to get printer working if I plug it directly into my computer but when I plug it into my router which has print server it does not print. The problem now being if I want to print 1 page it shows at printing multiple pages the highest it has gone as far as 58422 (and still rising) of a 1 page document.
