I can see both computers but can't access?

How about some info about the computer (specs) and network setup so we know what we are dealing with?

Have a wireless network adapter. 1 desktop - window 7, 1 Laptop - window 7. What other info. do you require?

go into network and sharing center on each computer, over on the left top you will see Change Advanced Sharing settings, turn off password protected sharing. Right clik on the folder or drive you wish to share and set sharing to everyone, full control....reboot both computers, you should be able to access the folder now.

I opened up Network and Sharing Center - Where do i find the control to turn off the password potection sharing?

Just passing through but if you are running homegroup for networking it requires a password.

Still haven't solved this problem.
System info: 32 bit, Window 7 Home premium

Trying to network my two computers, has I mentioned before I can see both computers on network.

Getting error message I need to enable IPV6 on my laptop, I have followed all instruction to enable however it doesn't work.

Is there a better way to network my two computers and share files?

There are tutorials on this forum that show you how to create a workgroup or a "homegroup" which is a Win 7 feature that are actually different from each other in how they are setup. That might help you better. But if you want more help this way you need to tell us how all networking is physically connected. Router, PC, Laptop, modem, etc.

Hi Metalmania37,

Netgear Router
Laptop - Window 7 32 bit Wi-fi

Second computer - Desktop Window 7 32 bit, thing (don't know what you call it right now) that picks up the signal from router and allows me to connect to internet.

Go to your Control Panel->Homegroup. Are any of the options checked off?
Also if you can look at the settings in Network and Sharing Center->Advanced sharing settings and post a screen shot.
You can post a screen shot of the single window by using tool called "snipping tool" in the start menu->accessories folder.

I was posting a reply when everything disispeared. Was trying to download the spell check (which I can't find). Anyway thanks for info. I think (when I can afford it) I will up grade window to Professional and see if the cloude will work better.

Huh, what do you mean by the cloud. You're going to use cloud to share your files? Well sorry I couldn't help more. I wish I was able to physically see you pc I could probably fix right away.

If you're that trusting with a stranger. There's a program called teamviewer and I can take a look and see if I can really help you out. Once you download and run just follow the prompts and I can connect to your pc.

I tried that program out last night to see if I could use it to remote controle my computer - didn't like the way it made my computers act.
I appreciate very much your offering to help here, but your correct about trusting strangers, I wasn't thinking.
