Hi.. I have been using this Windows 7 for three weeks now.. This is the best OS I have ever tried and looks cool etc.. But this network is acting stupid.

When I installed this W7 the network worked properly, but the problems appeared when my friend installed W7 (we live together) which made our internet flip. Same time one XP-box was working correctly. Most of the times only one of us (Windows 7 users) had working inet connection.

He got tired of it and went back to XP, and now he has working internet which leaves me the only W7 user in this network. The problem is that sometimes my network just disconnects. I have tested with DHCP/whitout (sometimes it works with different settings, sometimes not). Couple days ago the inet told me that I have incorrect DNS -servers (I have correct) and I discovered that "routing & something.." service was disabled, and enabling it made me get internet access.

When I reboot my computer, it connects to "Network 4" (Network 2 is the place I get inet) and I have to reboot routing service to get it to connect Network 2. The icon in the tray has the red X on it but I'm still typing here.

My network includes this computer, 2x Win XP computers which all are connected to a D-Link router which is connected to our cablemodem box.

And another thing.. When I do ipconfig /renew (or some specific thing) it says file not found.. It must have been corrupted somehow, cos it worked early on this computer.

So how can I use this OS with fully operating internet?! Because I would really like to..

Welcome t0mI,

Please help us by filling in additional specs, so we can help you. What type of network did you choose when you set up your network ? Homegroup or work network? Work network will be best to link the 2 XP computers with the Win7.

There are a lot of good members here to help you. :geek:

I'm using the same set up as you, cable modem and Dlink router with XP machines plus Win7 machines but never have any problem getting online.

Try another router reset although you shouldn't have too do that.

I filled the specs now..

I noticed that this network works pretty stable when I reboot and first disable "routing & remote access", then disable LAN1 then enable them both. But still random disconnects too.. Atleast I get to enable this (for a moment atleast) internet now :).

Network problem with windows 7 and XP

Hi Everyone,

I have the same problem

I have recently installed windows7 on my machine. But my home network machines are working with windows xp. Before installing 7 on my machine the internet on my system and other network systems are working fine. After installing 7 the network had disconnected frequently on my systems and every system in the network and i have tried a lot of time with this and nothing happens. The network systems and 7 installed systems are connected thru a LAN Switch.

Any one is there to help me?
