I have a Gateway Laptop with Windows 7 Home Premium, Service Pack 1,
Intel Celron CPU B820, @1.70 GHz. 64 Bit, 8.0GB RAM

My computer was slowing down, acting up and I could not access my HP Deskjet 3512 printer. So I purchased a Recovery Disc set for the Gateway Laptop NE56R10u.

I can get on the Internet and all is working well except:

1. My HP Deskjet shows up in my WI FI Start up with the available routers. Actually on a hard boot the Printer is connected and the router is not until I Connect the router manually, which then disconnects the printer.

2. When I do a Windows update I get the Blue Spinning wheel for hours. actually overnight I never get any updates.

3. Occasionally I get a message that I have two conflicting IP Addresses.
I have done the ipconfig /Release and ipconfig /Renew. No change

I have hard booted on the router and laptop, again no change.

I have two other laptops on this network and they work correctly and I can use the HP Deskjet 3510 properly.

Also, I show three printers in devices and printers, but none has the printer preferences on a right click like the have in the past.

Does any one have any suggestions?

Thanks
George

An IP conflict means two or more computers are using the same IP.

Have you setup your network card to static IP's and made a mistake on one computer.

You could do an
Code:
ipconfig
on all the computers and check what IP they are using. If your not sure what the results mean you can post them here and me or someone else may be able to help you.

I usually use Softperfect Network Scanner (It's Free) to find devices on my network and what their IP's are. If you try it and need help just post back and I will try to help you.
SoftPerfect Network Scanner is a free multi-threaded IPv4/IPv6 scanner with a modern interface and many advanced features. It is intended for both system administrators and general users interested in computer security. The program pings computers, scans for listening TCP/UDP ports and discovers shared folders, including system and hidden ones.
In addition, it can retrieve practically any information about network computers via WMI, SNMP, HTTP, NetBios and has a bunch of other features. It can also resolve host names and auto-detect the local and external IP address range. To assist with network administration, it supports remote shutdown and Wake-On-LAN.

I solved the problem.. I have three wireless printers and none would connect after I did a complete recovery on the laptop. All three showed in the "Devices and Printers". I deleted or removed all the printers, then turned off my laptop and turned off all three printers. I then unplugged my router for about a minute. I plugged the router back in, waited about five minutes, then turned each printer back on. I then turned on my laptop, went to "Printers and Devices" and "add Printer" for each printer. All three were in available choices. I added each printer but each one I had to "update" the list of printers shown.
Only problem not solved and it is not causing a problem, is one printer is showing up in my WIFI selections, this is strange!!!
