Hi friends, i got windows 7 ultimate 64bits, and im trying to share my connection with my brothers PC's, but i got some problem to do that.

I have 2 Lan Cards on my pc, one im connected direct with the Modem and another one to I SHARE with them.

But all the time when i try share this says only the first is connected, all the PC's have the same group name and my connection to modem is marked to share connection.

Anyone got the same problem and can help me?

i will buy the router tplink on the end of the month but i need to share before with them...

Thanks!

Can you please post a screenshot of the Network and Sharing Center along with the device manager showing network adapters?

Have you ever successfully done this before with another OS?

Reason I ask is because if not, and also depending on your hardware, you may need to use a crossover type of ethernet cable instead to accomplish what you want.

Which adapter is being used to connect to remote pc? Which adapter is remote pc using?

Make sure the computer names are not the same.

http://img21.imageshack.us/img21/9127/semttulouh.jpg

in the first connection "Meu pc" its connected on the internet and the second isnt, but i already made this(u can compare with your os in english) http://img23.imageshack.us/img23/6108/semttulo1si.jpg

its set to share connection. i try another things too but i doesnt had sucess =/
And u can see the pointed connection "Outro" its another lan card, that one go to my HUB and my HUB share with my brothers.

I only need to share my connection.

the computers name are not the same, and im not using remote pc(if u mean remote pc = virtual machine). Its my brothers PC's, not an windows on my virtual machine on Win7.

I had done this many times on my xp, vista, 98, me, 2000, ... lol
But maybe i forgot something, thats because i came here to ask some pro bro's =D

Thanks for ur time friend!

Set static ips for each adapter in question (one on each machine connected to the cable.) Click local area connection in Network and Sharing Center. Click properties. Double click IPv4, check the circle for "use the following address."

ip address of first machine = 10.0.0.1
subnet mask = 255.255.255.0
Default gateway = 10.0.0.2
Preferred DNS server = 10.0.0.2

ip address of other machine = 10.0.0.2
subnet mask = 255.255.255.0
Default gateway = 10.0.0.1
Preferred DNS server = 10.0.0.1

Should be connected now.

If not, check your driver in device manager for either or both machines for some kind of crossover setting to change.

Yeah, I've never done this before so I can't say with authority.

With the above setup, that in theory, should connect the two machines together to network well with each other.

You can try exactly the same thing I said, only leave dns and/or gateway empty.

If they do network well, setting up sharing is a separate issue. Try to ping one machine from the other. If you are on 10.0.0.1, go to command prompt and type ping 10.0.0.2, hit enter and see if it's successful.

but it will atribute an IP new to each PC who connect on this?

I used another config and connected the 2 on the internet, but when i see on my bro's PC it says "limited connection" it doesnt atribute an IP.

PS. I used another configs, the 2 connection arent different machines they are 2 lan cards ok? i dont saw any pc on the network from my "central".

Thanks for ur time friend!

Solution

I have the same config as well. My computer is "the router" for my laptop. I have an ethernet card that goes vía rJ45 to the modem and a pci wireless card.

You have to go to second tab on the properties of your local area network and share it. See this image; http://www.s3v-i.net/wp-content/uploads/2007/11/uso_compartido_internet.png Is in spanish. I don't know how is it in english.

Windows 7 configure the gateway as 192.168.137.1. Then you have to set in your wireless card this IP: 102.168.137.XXX, this Submask: 255.255.255.0 and the gateway: 192.168.137.1. The laptop uses DHCP.

I have created an adhoc net with my computer and my laptop and it works fine.

Cheers!

If you go into the windows 7 help (default on start menu) and search for "sharing internet"

this will bring up the full step by step instructions for setting up internet connection sharing on Windows 7,

Once the set-up is completed on the Windows 7 machine you can set the XP machine to the correct subnet and point the gateway to the Windows 7 machine manually
