Homegroup networking a W-7 Pro and a W-7 HomPrem: Problem is the Pro won't use the HomPrem's printer, it can't find the printer if I try to "Add Printer".

The Pro can access all files on the HomPrem, and vice-versa.

I don't want to buy another printer. I don't have a Pro Installation Disk, I bought the computer with the O/S installed already.

I will appreciate any ideas.
Thanx

From your previous post which is half solved I suppose. :) http://www.sevenforums.com/network-sharing/279134-windows-7-network-home-premium-pro.html

You need to ensure that the printer is indeed shared out.

You also need to install the printer drivers onto the Pro machine in order for it to be able to use the Printer.

With the Homegroup is set up, Windows typically see's the printer and installs the drivers for the other machine as soon as you click on the printer from Network.

Hi,
Thanks for responding.
I didn't have any luck. I downloaded the driver from hp.com/support for a HP Laserjet 1320, and installed it on the Pro.
Then I had both machines leave the Homegroup. I turned off the HomPrem, and re-created the Homegroup on the Pro.
I turned on the HomPrem, joined the Pro's Homegroup, making the printer shareable.
I tried to "Add Printer" to the Pro, and it couldn't find a network printer.

My next plan is to get a USB cable and wire the Pro to the printer, and try to get the HomPrem to "Add Printer".

The printer is currently wired to the HomPrem by means of a DB-25 cable.

I hope the USB port on the printer works, I think I had trouble with it before.
If it doesn't, I guess it's "new printer" time.
Thanx:)

You should have better luck setting the printer up as a Network Printer rather than with USB but it depends on the Printer in some cases.
