So, i have 5 windows 7 machines and 1 windows 8 machine in my apartment. I want to have one hooked to my tv in the living room that stores movies and such, and then be able to access it from any other computer in the apartment, like the windows 8 machine that is hooked to the tv in my bedroom, as well as the windows 7 machine there.

I am running into the issue right now, after setting up the homegroup, shareing the c and z drive that has my data on it. I can get to it once in a blue moon, however, most of the time it asks for a username and password. I cannot seem to get it correct.

I want to be able to access it without having to do a login everytime, or even once if possible.

any advice on this?

i've spent some time going through all my settings to the point where its 4 am and im going crosseyed staring at it.

Try going into the Security tab of the drive then through the advanced sharing options add "Everyone" to the C:>Users folder as described in the link below.

This should give you access to the drive shares without jumping through hoops. Once this is done you should be able to add the drive share to any Library through the "Manage Library" option in the ribbon.

Got a solution from a coworker. took homegroup out of the equation, put two machines on their own workgroup and created accounts with no password. so far it's working just fine thankfully.
