Network User name & Password

Hi, I've searched this forum and i can't seem to find the right answer to my problem.

I have a desktop and a laptop both running Windows 7 Ultimate x86. My desktop is being primarily used as a media server with external hard drives attached to it. I was able to share my external hard drives over the network and my laptop was able to detect them. Right now "password protected sharing" is turned off, but I want to turn it on so that no one except me can access that network.

My question is, what is my user name and password? It asks me for my user name and password but I never set one up. Is there a way to find out what my user name and password is? And is there a way to change it so I can pick my own user name and password?

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

Many variables here. It looks like you are on a Domain (which doesnt make sense)

If this is a home network (aka Homegroup) there was a password when you created it.

If you are an admin and dont want to share with others you can also just change the rights of the other non admin users (IE admin can, normal users cannot Modify, read, or even see)

Need a bit of clarification

Whatever password you set...

Notice the domain name says : Laptop
You'll change that to PC in the "PC\Username" line.

I never set a password.

Then try: PC\account name without a password... The PC backslash should work.
