I'm looking for help in trying to access my file server, running Windows 2000 Server edition, from my main computer running Windows 7 Ultimate. I'm a bit of a noob at networking, just thought I'd try something new.

Anyone with similar problems or any advice or help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Oh, almost forgot,

I'm able to access my Windows 7 computer from my Windows 2000 Server computer, but it's the other way 'round where I'm running into problems.

Have you reviewed the settings under Network and Sharing Center => Advanced Sharing Settings? Items like the file sharing connections, password protected sharing, etc?

That looks ok. What about the permissions on the W2K Server?

I have those all set to full control. I have my Administrator account as the main account with a password; could the fact that it's password-ed be the problem?

Did you use the Network sharing wizard when you create the share on W2K?

No, all I did was right click on the drives I wanted to share, and told it to share them.

Can you try a folder inside the drive, and hopefully see what i meant. If wizard will runs through (as though it compiles) setup a network share.

I think XP is different to W2K??

As you select to sahre the folder, putting in the share name, what's did you have under Permissions (button), and in the Security tab also?
