Networking & Printers W/ XP & Vista

I cannot get my network printer to operate thru either windows seven machine as server or XP machine as server, have to switch wiring back and forth. Win7 machine will see other boxes but will not network, share files, or allow a P2P operation, any ideas?

You need to set up your Windows 7 machine so that it's operating in a Workgroup, not in a Homegroup.
