Is this a modem or router or a combo unit modem/router?
You will need a modem/router to network those machines, although if you only have a modem you could set up a An Hoc or Virtual router or hosted wireless network on one of your machines.
Is the two computer on the same network? I mean so the both have a 192.168.x.x address (most common) and not a (Example: 90.60.10.50). because if they are on the same network you can just share a folder on one of your machines and access if from the other over SMB (Windows share).

You have a combo unit. All you need to do is plug in your ADSL connection into the WAN port on your router (Grey Port)
All wired devices plug into the yellow ports via Ethernet (IEEE 802.3)
Depending on your ISP you may have PPPoE or PPP in order to connect to the internet, sometimes it will authenticate automatically however other ISPs will require you to enter a username and password into the router to provide authentication.

Accessing Your Router
To access your router plug your computer in via ethernet (Wired) and then open a web browser.
Upon launch in the URL bar type the following:
Code:
192.168.1.1
Once open you will be prompted by an authentication box. The default credentials to access your router are as follows:
Username: admin
Password: admin

After authentication you can then click on 'Quick Setup' and then setup your router to connect to the internet. If you are already connected to the internet then you will not need to change any settings.
