I have tried everything to get my computers to share the same printer. I can't get my xp computer to share its printer with my windows 7 computer. any sugesstions?

I have successfully done this before, hopefully this will work for you:
Assuming your printer is hooked to your XP Machine, go into printer settings, and enable printer sharing. Note the name of your computer and your printer.
On Windows 7, go to add printer, network printer. Click on not listed, then type the name of the computer and printer like so: \\computername\printername
It should accept it, download and install drivers, and you are on your way.

Didn't work in my case. The printer is shared, and I can see it on win 7 pc. I believe my problem is due to the xp pc not having a user password.

I don't believe so. You may have to manually install the drivers on W7, and possibly the W7 drivers on the XP Computer (I don't remember).

Checked in the shares directory of Xp and see if the printername is shared. As Lordbob said, it should work.
Did W7 managed to connect to the share and install the driver off Xp?

I keep getting errors saying that 7 cannot connect to the shared printer. Have the printer driver manually installed on 7 since it is x64 & xp is x32.
Does it matter that I see the printers via the xp computer's ip address and not the computer name?
