hello I have a question about running Windows XPM in Windows VPC. I curently have Windows 7 Ultimate x64, and would like to know if there is any way to get a "true" ip adress in XPM from my network switch. currenty XPM is using NAT for XPM. now the reason im asking is becouse I will be running Server 2003 inside Windows VPC to run some testing. Thats why I would like to see if the virtual machine can have a Ip adress asigned from my router, rather than having NAT or just having it use my network card directly( this gives it the same IP adress as my computer becouse it is "slicing" int my computers current connection.)

Thanks,
Ion Basa

yes, you can configure your network adapter to be bridged, then your vm will have a real IP address assigned from your router, and other computers will see the vm as a real one in your network.

Hi there ionbasa This can be done quite easily

1. Power off the Virtual machine (CTRL-ALT-END then Shutdown) Dont hibernate it or this wont work.
2. Go Start>Programs>Windows Virtual PC>Windows Virtual PC
3. Select the XP Mode machine in the window that pops up (single click NOT double click) then click "Change Settings"
4. Go to Networking and change "NAT" to your network cards name, that will give your XP machine its own DCHP address.
