New 9800GT with Code 43.

Recently my Dad went abroad, and brought me back an nVidia 9800GT, and I installed it but I keep getting the Error "Code 43". I've tried most things that other's have done, i.e rolling back the drivers, updating to the latest drivers, running CCleaner, etc. But the problem is just persisting and I have no idea what is wrong with the card, I mean I've only had the card a couple of hours so there shouldn't be anything wrong with it.

Have you tried the latest BIOS for your motherboard? I had a code 43 when I had a couple of 7600s in SLI, and the mobo just needed a simple BIOS update.

Yeah, I'm not really sure how to do that, I've looked at msinfo32.exe and it says that my BIOS is by American Megatrends. Then I went on the AMI website and ran their tool, but then it said my motherboard is made by NEC. So I'm not really that sure what to do now =/

Trying going on to the manufacturers website of your PC (Packard Bell). There should be stuff on there.

Have you tried removing the CMOS battery?
BTW,
If you have no idea how to BIOS flash it may pay you to get someone who has to do that for you..it's inherently risky and must be done correctly or it can brick your motherboard.

If he bought it abroad, then maybe it needs the driver of that country. Ie, if you are in the US and he got it in the UK, download the UK driver.

That and download motherboard drivers, windows drivers and ensure it's physically connected properly. Also you may want to run CCleaner to make sure it's not some conflicting software bug issue in windows.

As long as he know's what he's doing with CCcleaner..it has the potential to cause problems also. And you have a point..Is the card actually seated properly? Does Device manager see the card? The drivers for the card are universal so I doubt thats an issue. I assume the PC drivers are also ( different language packs) is all.
