BIOS Type:Phoenix
BIOS Date:June 8th 2009
BIOS ID:79.03.00-None
BIOS OEM:79.03.00
Chipset:Intel 2A40 rev 7
SuperIO:Unknown
Manufacturer:Gateway
Motherboard:P-79

Laptop is a P-79 series from Gateway

I've been having issues with my RAM, tested both of my 2GB DDR3 1066 memory on both of the board slots, both worked like a charm separately, but when both of those memory are put together, my system starts to get BSOD. So I'm currently running on 2GB of memory at the moment. Think a new BIOS would help?

If so where may I find this BIOS update? Gateway main site does not provide such software.

THANKS!!:D

Are you sure that the RAM is the same manufacturer though? Given that the both test out fine separately, but when both together they have problems, doesn't necessarily rule that it is a BIOS issue. Mix manufacturer RAM can introduce instability.

The other possibility is that the other slot may be bad, did you test both ram chips in the other slot and see if you are seeing instability?

Each memory slot can hold DDR3 PC3-8500, DDR3 PC3-10600 with a maximum of 2GB per slot. So memory is correct.
