Hello all, first time posting.

3 BSODs seemingly at random, even after installing all the Windows Update stability fixes.

Windows 7 pro
Intel 3930k
Gigabyte GA-X79-UP4
16GB DDR3
GTX670

Thank you.

Welcome to SF :) .

Your bugchecks point towards your chipset driver:
Code:
DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL (d1)

Arguments:
Arg1: [COLOR=Red][U][B]0000000000000000[/B][/U][/COLOR], memory referenced
Arg2: [COLOR=Blue][U][B]0000000000000002[/B][/U][/COLOR], IRQL
Arg3: 0000000000000000, value 0 = read operation, 1 = write operation
Arg4: fffff880018ce0d2, address which referenced memory
  • An attempt was made to access a pageable (or completely invalid) address at an
interrupt request level (IRQL) that is too high. This is usually
caused by drivers using improper addresses.

The Stack:
Code:
fffff880`03a86a48 fffff880`012ac0de [B][COLOR=Red][U]iaStorA[/U][/COLOR][/B]+0x650de
fffff880`03a86a78 fffff880`01249405 [COLOR=Red][U][B]iaStorA[/B][/U][/COLOR]+0x2405
fffff880`03a86ab8 fffff880`012aaaa8 [COLOR=Red][B][U]iaStorA[/U][/B][/COLOR]+0x63aa8
fffff880`03a86af8 fffff880`012b1bec [COLOR=Red][U][B]iaStorA[/B][/U][/COLOR]+0x6abec
fffff880`03a86c58 fffff880`012acc2c [COLOR=Red][U][B]iaStorA[/B][/U][/COLOR]+0x65c2c

We can use the lmvm command to get more information about the driver:
Code:
9: kd> [COLOR=SeaGreen][U][B]lmvm iaStorA[/B][/U][/COLOR]
start end module name
fffff880`01247000 fffff880`018cd000 iaStorA T (no symbols)
    Loaded symbol image file: iaStorA.sys
    Image path: \SystemRoot\system32\DRIVERS\iaStorA.sys
    Image name: iaStorA.sys
    Timestamp: [COLOR=Red][U][B]Tue Aug 07 18:43:10 2012[/B][/U][/COLOR] (5021378E)
The driver is pretty old.

Update Intel drivers using this online utility.

Update your SSD's firmware.

Update your Marvell SATA controller.

Update with the results!

Hi YoYo.

I updated the Marvell SATA controller.
Samsung Magician said the SSD firmware is up to date.
The Intel Driver Update Utility said Intel Chipset Software Installation Utility (Chipset INF) was valid. Only the wired networking Intel(R) 82579LM based Network Controller(OEM) needed to be updated.

I guess now we play the waiting game and see if it still BSODs

Thank you.

That's right :) .
If it does bugcheck again, upload a new instance of the .zip the SFDT creates.

Keep posting updates :) .

Intel smart response technology is again the cause of this issue,
what kind of a RAID setup do you have?

Follow this tutorial carefully in-order to convert the RAID setup back to basic disks.

Remove the Gigabyte utilities as they known to cause incompatibility issues
with Windows 7:

Code:
Programs\GIGABYTE\3TB+Unlock
Programs\GIGABYTE\DMIView
Programs\GIGABYTE\ET6
Programs\GIGABYTE\SmartRecovery2
Programs\GIGABYTE\UpdManager

Okay I uninstalled the listed Gigabyte utilities.

I don't have a RAID setup, all the drives types are listed as basic in Disk Management. Should I just uninstall Intel rapid storage tech as well?

Thanks :) .
Yes unisntalling it will be preferable, although you're also using a BETA version of your BIOS
which enables it. If uninstalling the software doesn't help we would have to flash the BIOS
to a previous version.

Keep updating :) .

Just crashed again, so I've uninstalled the Intel rapid storage tech now.

Here is another SFDT. I only installed the beta bios because I couldn't get into the bios with the older one and other people said it worked for them.

The bugchecks are the same, again, iSRT is misbehaving.

Which BIOS version did you use before?
What was the problem exactly with the older version?
Are you willing to switch back to the older version?

I used the F2 bios before. I updated because it would freeze whenever I tried to enter the bios.

Just switched back to F2 and it froze when I tried to enter the bios.

It's iaStorA.sys again.

Uninstall VirtualCloneDrive:
Code:
Programs\Elaborate Bytes\VirtualCloneDrive

Download and install this version of drivers for your chipset:

Post back with the results :).

Okay done. A little more involved than I thought it would be. Had to use command prompt to get it to install.

The storage controller and IDE ATA controllers changed in device manager. Hopefully this does it.
