If you check my specs, I have the same processor. I'm quite happy with it. I use only Intel or Gigabyte brand motherboards. There are other quality boards out there as well, but there's no denying that Gigabyte is a top brand as well.

well i only use GIGABYTE boards always have and was going to go to AMD, but ther is no nice GIGABYTE boards that do what i want them to do, so might as well stick with Intel and go with the i7 2600k but thanks for your reply.

I'm satisfied with an Asus P8Z68-V Pro. Most reviewers seem to prefer Asus' UEFI implementation. (That's not a major consideration for me, but it's a feature.) I suggest waiting for the Gen3 version:

ASUSTeK Computer Inc. - Motherboards- ASUS P8Z68-V PRO/GEN3

Also, I'm not sure of its release date, but if the timing is right you may wish to consider the I7-2700k. It may not be much faster than the 2600k, but the price difference may be small as well. I'd suggest waiting for the 22nm "Ivy Bridge" CPUs, but they may not be out until the second quarter of 2012 (April-June).
