Hello,
Have a strange problem on my new pc build.

Cooler Master HAF 912 Plus Midi Tower
Samsung DVD±RW burner, SH-S223C
Silver Power SP-SS750M 750W PSU
Intel Core? i7 Quad Processor i7-2600K
Corsair Vengeance? DDR3 1600MHz 8GB CL9
Crucial RealSSD C300 2,5" 64GB (for OS)
ASUS P8P67, Socket-1155
ASUS Radeon 5770 (from my old pc)

I ordered the parts and installed it a week ago, installed Win7 64bit Professional 64 bit, and all seemed to work fine, for 1 week. Pc has not been overclocked, using standard intel stock CPU cooler, got 5 case fans, having normal temps. Using default BIOS settings.

A few days ago, in the middle of a game, screen went BSOD. Tried to reboot, but got errormessage during boot, halts at "CLASSPNP.SYS". Tried booting in safe mode, repair mode, tried to reinstall Windows from DVD, but all stops at the same stage during boot "starting windows".

So far I have tried running Windows Memory Diagnostics to check ram, found no errors. Installed latest BIOS firmware, no change. Cleared CMOS/Bios, no change.
Checked the GPU/GFX card on another pc, worked fine. Tested booting from all 8 diffrent SATA connectors with the SSD device, no change. Tried reinstall Windows on a new, blank HD, fails during "starting windows" phase. (Reconnected the SSD after this)

Then I tried to reduce the number of active CPU cores in Bios, from 4 to 3, didnt boot. From 3 to 2 cores, it booted normally into Windows after this. Also on 1 active core. If I switch back to 3 or 4 cores, Windows stops booting at "starting windows" again.

Does anyone have any ideas what could be causing this?

Try changing the sata mode from achi to ide and see if you can get it to install correctly. Others in MS technet have reported the same problem and switching to the opposite sata mode seems to have corrected the issue.

If not please post back.

No luck on the RAM and IDE/AHCI settings, however, I am getting a RMA on both the CPU and the Mobo, so I will probably get them replaced on warrenty now.
